The history of Consorzio Latterie Virgilio dates back to 1966, when twenty seven social milk and milk processing dairies formed a single union in Mantua. Virgilio has grown constantly since then and is now a major company in the dairy and cheese industry, working with a milk collection basin of more than 70 dairies and 2000 breeders; its core products are Grana Padano and Parmigiano Reggiano, in addition to UHT milk, butter, mascarpone, cream and béchamel sauce.
The Consorzio’s increasing importance within its reference market and its desire to boost the excellence and high quality of the Virgilio products to the wider community are behind the need for a strategic brand operation, resulting in an all-round rebranding project including corporate identity, packaging, web site and stand. The project aimed to establish the firm points in the future development of the Brand, and that is based on the values of Guarantee and everything related to the Italian spirit.
The redesigned Trademark and the new Tagline form the basis to communicate the experienced background and competence of a solid, reliable brand based on cooperation, on solidarity and on promoting the products of its members. The Pack System – key vehicle of the brand – stands out both for the trademark and for the visual of the V, which both supports surfing amongst the product varieties and adds value and impact to the shelf.
In May and June 2012 Northern Italy, including Mantua, has been hit by earthquakes, which have caused a widespread damage in the region. Virgilio has always based its own operation on cooperation, and in this moment has committed to withdrawing the whole blocks of Grana Padano and Parmigiano Reggiano that have been damaged by these devastating earthquakes. CBA, sharing the spirit of cooperation and solidarity at the basis of this initiative, has joined with the Consorzio, designing a Special Edition Pack with a strong impact and at the same time, thanks to a very rational design able to quickly describe the entire operation to the consumer.
